February 4

“A Call to Compassion,” presented by Rev. Teresa Cowan Jones and Peter Woods. This talk offers an exploration of the incredibly rich topic of compassion. They will outline what we have learned over the years about the facilitation of Karen Armstrong’s 12 Steps to A Compassionate Life book groups, the first book suggested by Mayor Rothschild and Sacred Space for city-wide reading through the Tucson Mayor’s Book Club launching in February.

February 11

Peter Woods will facilitate “Our Shadow Self and How to Manage It.” If we don’t build our capacity for compassion, we often inadvertently and commonly project our shadow onto others instead, perpetuating suffering. The Shadow consists of those aspects of ourselves that we disown. Though we are no longer aware of these unacknowledged parts of ourselves, they do not vanish. Instead they relocate to our unconscious, where they deeply impact our thoughts, emotions and actions.
