Adult Education Forum – Sundays at 9:45am in Calvin Hall

Waking Up White: Beginning on September 10, the Adult Ed Committee has planned four monthly Sunday lunches after 11:00 worship to discuss Debbie Irving’s book, Waking Up Whitewhich the Co-Moderators of the Presbyterian Church (USA) have commended to the whole denomination. The committee is arranging for facilitated discussion in small groups in order to maximize personal expression.

September: On Welcome Back Sunday, September 10th, Joeine Green will host a discussion on the book Waking Up White. On September 17 and 24th we will watch and discuss the documentary God Loves Uganda.

October: St. Mark’s welcomes Michael Adee, director of the Horizons Foundation, and former Director of More Light Presbyterians, on October 1st to share with us about his international work for LGTBQ+ inclusion. One of our members, Amy Willer, will present on October 15th and 22nd on mental health issues and the church.

November: Continuing with the Reformation theme, Bart Smith will present on “Reformation at 500: Where Are We Now?” on November 5th, looking at the evolving trends in worldwide Christianity and American church life. Sylvia Thorson-Smith will lead a discussion on Protestant perspectives on Mary on November 19.
